"I am back from a festival at a lake where our Allen organ was on the roof of a boat!! Maybe the first time ever in the history when a digital concert organ has been at that
kind of place. The church is located on the shore of one of the biggest lakes in Finland, called Päijänne. The boat went across the lake to the church shore where the audience was waiting. There was a big risk for a rain, but we were lucky. Of course we were ready to cover (the) Allen and its speakers from the shower! The organist, at Sysmä festival, was internationally well known Kalevi Kiviniemi, who constantly plays all over Europe and the Far East, and has had recitals in the USA. The singer was Juha Uusitalo (bass), known for his Wagner opera roles in many famous opera houses, including La Scala Milan, Wiener Staatsoper, Deutsche Staatsoper, Tokyo's New National Theatre, De Nederlandse Opera Amsterdam. He also sang in the acclaimed Konwitschny production in 2006 at the Bayerische Staatsoper (under Adam Fischer) and with the Boston Symphony Orchestra (under Levine). This concert in Sysmä had the title "The Flying Dutchman". -submitted by Matti Pesonen Allen Organ Dealer - Finland Lake Päijänne is the second largest lake in Finland. The lake drains into the Gulf of Finland via the Kymi River. |
