LIMITED TIME DIAMOND JUBILEE APPOINTMENT PACKAGE! |
NEWLY REPUBLISHED: "TRIUMPHS AND TRIALS OF AN ORGAN BUILDER" |
In addition to the Diamond Jubilee Appointment Package, Allen is celebrating by republishing Jerome Markowitz' (Allen's founder)
book entitled "Triumphs & Trials of an Organ Builder", now available in paperback and as a Kindle e-book. This excerpt from page 10 explains Jerome's early intent on perfecting his idea of "designing and building a practical electronic organ based on vacuum tube oscillators which would closely emulate the magnificent sound of the pipe organ." "As I persevered, the main problem I encountered with the oscillator-based organ was tuning drift. Pipe organs have a similar problem, but my early oscillator designs were so drift prone that the instrument would not stay in tune long enough to be practical. Finally, after considerable effort, I discovered the solution to the tuning problem—a major breakthrough." Click to purchase the Anniversary edition of Jerome Markowitz' book. |
Allen Organs founder Jerome Markowitz's First Patent from 1938. His "Stable Oscillator", emmited a "locked" or steady sound wave that required no adjustments, a breakthrough in electronics for this time period. |
INSTALLATION: Curaçao Catholic Monasterio (Monastery in Curacao) |
After installing the new Bravura, AOC updated circuit boards for the Protégé they were playing, and installed it in another part of the
Monastery as a practice organ, Mother Superior then wrote: ¡Hola! Bravura is beautiful... precious!... and sounds so pretty. The shipment arrived at Curaçao last Wednesday 26, on Tuesday at the Monastery inside the box and yesterday was installed... Hip, hip hurray!!!!!!!!!!! Thanks a lot. Really we're very happy and very very greatfully to Allen Organ Company. Best Regards for all of the team, Sor María Montserrat |
INSTALLATION: Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Glennville, NY |
Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Glennville, New York had an older analog organ that was beyond repair. The organist knew exactly
what he wanted: a custom stop list with full reed choruses in the Swell and Great, and 8' Principals in the Swell and Choir divisions, plus
a Pontifical Trumpet. The Pastor also wanted more modern MIDI sounds to accommodate the growing variety of musical needs. The Allen Vista
Navigator™ was added for this purpose. The Quantum™/Custom Three-Manual organ has 89 stops, a 26 channel audio system, custom font engravings, and Cathedral-style side overlays. Even the LED's color for the key cheek pistons and On/Off indicator are custom! The Pastor of Immaculate Conception decided to purchase an Allen organ based on Allen's fine reputation in the Diocese, and the relationship built with the church while providing them a temporary loaner organ during the purchase process. Immaculate Conception seats over 1000 and the parishioners have been amazed at the sound quality of the new digital Allen! The organ's dedication concert was performed by organist/composer, Diane Bish. - submitted by Bradley Day Click to see this organ as Organ of the Week |
